How to Apply to Malaysian Universities as an International Student (Step-by-Step Guide)
Step 1: Choose Your Course & University
Research is key. Don't just pick a university because it's famous. Look at the specific course modules, facilities, and location.
Neogoals Tip: We can help you shortlist the best options based on your budget and grades.
Step 2: Check Entry Requirements
Ensure you meet the academic and English requirements (IELTS/TOEFL). If you don't have English results yet, many universities conduct their own placement tests.
Step 3: Submit Your Application
You'll need your passport, academic transcripts, and photos. Neogoals handles this for you for free to ensure no documents are missing.
Step 4: Visa Application (VAL)
Once you get your Offer Letter, we apply for your Visa Approval Letter (VAL) through EMGS. This takes 4-6 weeks.
Step 5: Single Entry Visa (SEV) & Flight
With the VAL, go to the nearest Malaysian embassy to get your SEV. Then, book your flight! Important: Inform the university of your arrival details 7 days in advance.
Common Mistakes to Avoid:
- Applying with a passport expiring in less than 18 months.
- Submitting photos with the wrong background color (must be white).
- Waiting until the last minute to apply for the SEV.
