English Requirements for Malaysia: IELTS, TOEFL & Linguaskill Explained
Do You Need IELTS?
Yes and No. While IELTS is the standard (usually 5.0 - 6.0 for Bachelor's), many universities accept alternatives.
Accepted English Tests
- IELTS: The most widely accepted. Academic module is required.
- TOEFL iBT: Accepted by almost all universities.
- Linguaskill: A newer, online test by Cambridge. It's faster and often easier to book. Many Malaysian universities now accept it for admission.
What If I Don't Have English?
Don't worry! You can join the university's Intensive English Programme (IEP). You will study English for 6-12 months on campus before starting your degree.
Exemptions
You might be exempt if your previous education was conducted entirely in English (proof required) or if you come from an English-speaking country.
