What to Pack Before Moving to Malaysia as a Student
Clothing: Keep it Light through Humidity
Malaysia is hot and humid year-round (27°C - 32°C). Pack light cotton clothes. Keep one jacket for air-conditioned lecture halls (which can arguably get freezing).
Electronics: Type G Plug
Malaysia uses the British-style Type G plug (3 rectangular pins). Bring a universal travel adapter. Voltage is 240V.
Documents: The Golden Rule
Hand-carry your original OFFER LETTER and EMGS APPROVAL LETTER. Do not check these in your luggage. Immigration will ask for them immediately.
What NOT to Bring
Rice cookers (voltage difference/bulky), heavy winter coats, and excessive food supplies (Arab/Asian grocery stores are everywhere in KL).
