Can Parents Visit Students in Malaysia? Visa Rules Explained
Social Visit Pass (Tourist Visa)
Parents can enter Malaysia on a standard Social Visit Pass. For most Arab and Commonwealth nationals, this is granted on arrival for 90 days.
Can They Stay Longer?
Before, parents could apply for a "Long Term Social Visit Pass" easily. Post-2024, regulations are stricter. It is best to plan for short visits. They CANNOT work in Malaysia on this visa.
The "Guardian Pass"
If the student is under 18 or plans to study at an International School (not University), one parent (usually the mother) can apply for a Guardian Pass to live in Malaysia.
