Medical Test & Insurance Requirements for Malaysia Student Visa
The "Post-Arrival" Medical Screening
Many students are confused about this. You DO NOT need to visit a doctor in your home country. You simply fly to Malaysia. Within 7 days of arrival, your university will take you to an EMGS-panel clinic for a checkup (Blood test, X-Ray, Urine test).
What Happens If I Fail?
If you test positive for contagious diseases (like Hepatitis or Tuberculosis) or use drugs (Cannabis/Opioids), your visa will be cancelled, and you will be sent home. Make sure you are clean before you fly.
Medical Insurance
It is compulsory to buy insurance through EMGS. We recommend the Silver or Gold Package (AIA or Etiqa). It covers hospitalization for accidents and emergencies, which is crucial as private healthcare can be expensive.
